Abstract: The Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) Coverage Estimate provides an estimate of the coverage of DTT services for residential buildings, commercial buildings and standalone houses. The DTT Coverage Estimate is compiled by the Office of the Communications Authority (OFCA) based on results of computer simulation which makes use of the radio propagation characteristics of DTT signals operating in the ultra-high frequency band and is produced for reference only. The assumptions and approximations, etc. of the simulation may affect the fidelity of the coverage estimate and actual coverage is subject to variations due to blockage and reflections of man-made structures as well as other relevant environmental factors of the concerned building/house. From time to time OFCA will conduct on-site measurement to verify the actual coverage if cases warrant. Subsequently, the DTT Coverage Estimate will be updated accordingly. The DTT Coverage Estimate is based on the assumption that the DTT signals are received at the rooftop of the concerned building/house with appropriate orientation of the receiving antenna. The coverage estimate does not apply to reception of DTT signals indoors or at other floors. Further enquiries concerning DTT Coverage Estimate may be directed to OFCA's hotline (8102 4100).
