Abstract: Dissolved Oxygen (DO) and 5-day Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD5) are two important parameters indicating the general conditions of water. Dissolved Oxygen indicates the total amount of oxygen dissolved in the river and stream water. Most aquatic organisms need oxygen for respiration and maintenance of life. Dissolved oxygen content in water can also be affected by natural factors including weather, temperature, water turbulence, hydrological conditions, algal blooms, etc. BOD5 measures the amount of oxygen consumed by microorganisms in decomposing organic matters in water. It is generally used to reflect the level of organic pollution of environmental water. The recent DO and BOD5 data at selected stations in 12 major rivers and streams are available on this web page.

摘要: 溶解氧及五天生化需氧量是兩項可反映河溪水質的重要參數。 溶解氧代表溶解於河溪內氧氣的含量。絕大部份的水生生物均需呼吸氧氣以維持生命。水中的溶解氧含量亦會受天氣、溫度、水湍流、水文條件、藻華等自然因素所影響。 五天生化需氧量是用來測量水中微生物分解有機物質所消耗的氧氣量。一般用於反映環境水體中的有機污染水平。 本網頁提供12處主要河溪的近期溶解氧及五天生化需氧量。
